Fruit Christmas tree recipe

A showstopping centrepiece for any festive table, this fruit Christmas tree from Jennifer Maune is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.

Great for enjoying a healthy treat amongst the mince pies and candy canes, it’s easy to put together, and the kids will love getting involved too. You can even switch out the fruits for any others that you already have at home.

Make it ahead of time, keep it wrapped in the fridge, and it’ll be ready to impress your guests this Christmas.

Overview:

Prep time: 20 minutes

Serves: 10 - 12 people

Ingredients:

450g strawberries, tops removed

310g blackberries

1/2 cantaloupe melon, seeds removed & cut into 1/2 inch slices

1 mandarin, skin removed & slices separated

450g green grapes

450g red grapes

30g mint leaves

170g blueberries

1 pineapple, skin removed & sliced

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry your strawberries, blackberries, grapes and blueberries.

  2. Cover a foam cone with cling film.

  3. Attach the strawberries and blackberries to your cone using toothpicks. Make sure you space the fruit out around the cone.

  4. Use a cookie cutter to make cantaloupe stars then add them to the cone with toothpicks.

  5. Add your mandarin slices to the tree using toothpicks, spacing them out too.

  6. Next, add the grapes with toothpicks, using them to fill any larger holes.

  7. Add the mint leaves to cover any areas where you can see the cone.

  8. Add blueberries to cover any last holes at the base of your tree.

  9. Finally, use a cookie cutter to make a pineapple star, then attach it to the top of your tree using a toothpick.
